/film maker Akindele Olufunke Ayotunde popularly known as Funke Akindele
( “JENIFA”) . This is the official biography of Funke Akindele the
famous Nollywood actress and producer.
Funke Akindele is the most popular Nigerian Nollywood diva and
producer born and brought up in Ikorodu, Lagos state, Nigeria . She was
born on the 24th of August, 1976 in Ikorodu area of Lagos state . She
is the second of three children (two girls and one boy). Her mother is a
medical doctor while her father is a retired school principal . The
ravishing actress attended Ogun State Polytechnic, now Moshood Abiola
Polytechnic where she obtained an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) .
Thereafter , she got a Law degree from the University of Lagos, Akoka,
Yaba – and masters in geology

She rose to stardom after featuring in popular United Nations
Population Fund (UNFPA) sponsored sitcom; I NEED TO KNOW, which ran from
1998 to 2002. In 2009 she won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best
Actress in a Leading Role. Funke Akindele also has a TV hit show titled
Jenifa. Funke is a full time actress majoring in the yoruba aspect of
Nigerian movie before gradually moving into English Nollywood films.
